Macon-Bibb County Moving Forward With $30 Million Jail Expansion | Here's What We Know

Macon-Bibb County is taking a major step toward addressing overcrowding and improving conditions at its jail, as officials move forward with plans for a new medical annex.
According to Mayor Lester Miller, a selection committee finalized its recommendation Friday to hire an architectural firm for the project. The committee includes Miller; Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Michael Scarbary; River Edge Behavioral Health CEO Cass Hatcher; and SPLOST project manager Clay Murphey.
