Rep. Tangie Herring Appointed to CGTC Board of Trustees, Bringing Passion for Education and Community

The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation has appointed Georgia State Representative Tangie Herring to its Board of Trustees.

With nearly three decades of teaching experience and a record of public service, Herring brings a unique mix of educational expertise, leadership, and community connection to her new role. According to Tonya McClure, CGTC’s associate vice president for Advancement, "Her background in education and deep connection to our community will add valuable experience to the Board as it continues its mission to support our students."

Herring, who represents Georgia House District 145, has built her career around helping others succeed as an educator, small business owner, and family advocate. She holds degrees from Georgia College, Mercer University, and Georgia State University, and understands the life-changing opportunities that education provides. Her appointment reflects CGTC’s dedication to ensuring students have access to exceptional training and pathways to in-demand careers that benefit the entire region.

Herring's professional accomplishments are complemented by her commitment to community empowerment and revitalization, particularly in Macon-Bibb and Monroe counties. As an advocate for public schools and equitable opportunities, her priorities include improving educational resources, enhancing community safety, and fostering economic development.

Rep. Herring is married to Wallace Herring of Macon and has one daughter, Zion. She is guided by family values and a commitment to service.
