Military Chaplain Candidates Embrace Emotional Resilience at Robins Air Force Base

In the final moments of life, many people hope to have family by their side. For America’s military members, that comfort often comes from someone else—a chaplain prepared to guide them and their families through unimaginable adversity.
In July, 23 chaplain candidates from around the world gathered at Robins Air Force Base to train through the Chaplain Candidate Program. In part, they're put through realistic training drills designed to test their emotional resilience and spiritual readiness. One exercise included simulated gunfire, blood and chaos, turning a once-calm room into a scene of havoc.
