The vibrant sights, sounds, and flavors of Latin America will once again take over Downtown as the 4th Annual Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival returns on Saturday, October 18. This year, the fiesta will be held in Cherry Street Plaza (310 Cherry Street) from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Organizers are currently recruiting vendors and sponsors to participate in this growing celebration of culture and community.

“Each year we’ve seen more families, performers, vendors, and people from out of town come out to support and share in this experience,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “It’s an honor to celebrate our Hispanic heritage right here in Macon-Bibb County. I encourage everyone to come out, celebrate, and learn about the wonderful cultures in our community.”

This family-friendly event will highlight live performances of traditional music and dance styles from across Latin America — including salsa, cumbia, merengue, and bachata. Attendees can enjoy authentic food trucks, shop local vendors, and immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Hispanic and Latinx communities.

The festival is held in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated across the United States from September 15 to October 15. The month pays tribute to the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. First launched as a week-long observance under President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968, it was expanded to a month-long commemoration in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan.
