East Macon Drivers Prepare for More Traffic, GDOT Announces I-16 Detour

Emery Highway drivers in East Macon are preparing for a significant increase in truck traffic as a new detour route forces semi trucks to the highway to reach Interstate 16 East.
The detour, which begins at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and routes trucks through East Macon to Ocmulgee East Boulevard, was implemented to allow the Georgia Department of Transportation to continue work on the I-16/I-75 improvement project.
