Fort Valley State University (FVSU) continues to be a driving force in the economic vitality of Middle Georgia, contributing an impressive $179,536,777 in output impact for Fiscal Year 2024. This marks a 0.7 percent increase over last year’s total of $178,341,755, underscoring the university’s steady and sustained influence in the region.
In addition to its direct economic output, FVSU supports 1,623 jobs, including 1,101 off-campus positions generated by institution-related spending. The economic study, which covered Peach, Houston, Crawford, Bibb, Taylor, and Macon counties, highlights FVSU’s far-reaching presence. The university’s impact extends well beyond these areas, with Cooperative Extension agents serving more than 30 counties across Georgia.
The findings come from a study commissioned by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents and released by the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia.
"Nearly 130 years since its founding, Fort Valley State University continues to be a pillar of stability and opportunity in this region,” said President Paul Jones, Ph.D. “These results reaffirm our commitment to driving economic growth, enhancing educational opportunities and supporting the prosperity of communities in Middle Georgia and across the state.”
FVSU’s influence extends beyond immediate economic contributions. Graduates who remain in Georgia can expect combined lifetime earnings of $1,365,799,970 with $546,151,154 directly attributable to the advanced opportunities provided by their FVSU degrees. This demonstrates the university’s critical role in strengthening both the local economy and the long-term financial success of its alumni.
As FVSU continues to grow its academic, research, and outreach programs, the university remains a powerful engine for economic and social development in Middle Georgia and beyond.
