Macon Film Guild Presents: "Familiar Touch"
Writer-director Sarah Friedland’s coming-of-old-age feature compassionately follows the winding path of octogenarian Ruth’s shifting memories.

Ruth (Kathleen Chalfant), a retired cook, prepares breakfast, but small and puzzling errors now punctuate her comfortable routine. When her son (H. Jon Benjamin) arrives to dine with her, she mistakes him for a suitor. Their “date” takes them to an assisted living facility, which Ruth does not recall having previously selected for herself. Among her fellow memory care residents, Ruth feels lost and adrift. As she slowly begins to accept the support of care workers Vanessa (Carolyn Michelle) and Brian (Andy McQueen), she finds new ways to ground herself even as her mind embarks on a journey all its own.

NOTE: Closed captioning at 2pm screening if available.

Presented by Macon Film Guild at Douglass Theatre
355 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Macon, GA 31208
$5.00 general admission

Black Business & Community Expo
This year’s theme, Together We Rise: Where Culture Meets  Commerce, speaks directly to our mission to create pathways for collective growth, opportunity, and visibility within our region. As we continue to build on the extraordinary momentum gained  since September of last year, we are focused on elevating partnerships that create long-term impact not just for this event but for the future of Central Georgia. We are expanding the activity to a 3-day event:

Friday Night: sponsors and vendors party at The Macon Mall Saturday: Expo at the Macon Mall from 11 am to 5 pm
Sunday Afternoon: Family Fun Day at Henderson Stadium.

The benefits of sponsorship extend far beyond brand recognition. This Expo holds transformational value for the region, impacting economics, education, small business development, workforce advancement, youth engagement, and cultural preservation. By investing in the advancement of Black communities, your organization becomes part of a broader effort to strengthen the very fabric of Central Georgia’s success.

Storytellers Macon Presents: Good Doers
This month, we’re celebrating Good Doers—the people who act with heart, lead with impact, and decide to make a difference every day.

Join us for an evening full of stories about the moments you decided to show up, to stand up, to walk away, or to give back. Whether it was choosing kindness over comfort or courage over fear, we’re diving into the pivotal moments that shaped who we are.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Macon Magazine!

Our host for the evening will be Susannah Maddux. She is the publisher of Macon Magazine, a bi-monthly publication approaching its 40th year that seeks, shares, and celebrates the good life and great stories in Macon, Georgia, and the surrounding region, and that has celebrated Macon’s 5 Under 40 Young Leaders for 25 years. She grew up in a family of storytellers from Monroe, North Carolina, and quickly found home in Macon a decade ago, when she dug in her (mostly high) heels and started listening, connecting, and creating through her first business, Goods Public Relations. After working with small businesses, nonprofits, and civic-focused causes, Susannah is certain her soul seeks work that develops relationships and purpose.

FEATURED STORYTELLERS:
5 Under 40 – Local changemakers making waves before 40.
