Monday, August 11th, 2025
Bibb County School District students continue to make steady academic progress, according to Georgia Milestones test scores for 2024-25. Overall, students maintained or demonstrated improvement in ELA, math, and science content areas.
Bibb students showed increases in the number students scoring proficient and above on 11 of the 16 End of Grade (EOG) exams administered to elementary and middle grades students. Also, Bibb County High School students showed increases in the number students scoring proficient and above on all four End of Course (EOC) exams administered to high school students.
The percentage of Bibb students reading on or above grade level has continued to increase since 2021, and Bibb’s overall End of Grade ELA scores showed continued growth at the vital 3rd grade level. In math, students showed improvement at every grade level from 3rd grade through high school. Notably, the percentage of Bibb students scoring in the proficient learner and above categories in math increased in more than 20 elementary and middle schools.
“We are proud of the continued growth and progress evident in our results,” said Superintendent Dr. Dan A. Sims.
“While there is still much work to do to bring all students to on-grade level reading status and proficient learner status on the Georgia Milestones, we are headed in a direction that gives us the energy we need to refine practices and strengthen family and community support for our students and their overall well-being. As we use literacy and attendance to guide our efforts this year, our immediate plan is to use these results to increase student, school, family, and community awareness as we push for excellence from everyone during this school year and beyond.”
Several elementary schools surpassed the state in the percentage of students achieving grade level or above Lexile reading status. Elementary schools where students in upper grade levels surpassed the state’s Lexile reading status include Alexander II, Carter, Heard, Heritage, Skyview, Springdale, and Vineville. These same schools also had a higher percentage of students scoring at developing learner or above in ELA than the state for the majority of upper grade levels.
