Ten military spouses recently completed the Georgia Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center Military Spouse Training Initiative (MSTI), a workforce development program delivered by Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC). This initiative is designed to prepare participants for in-demand careers in Information Technology (IT).

MSTI is a rigorous six-month program that equips participants with both technical knowledge and professional skills, including preparation for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. The program provides foundational training in CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+, covering topics such as computer hardware, networking, cloud systems, and cybersecurity. Students also develop essential workplace competencies like communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and job readiness, including resume development and interview preparation.

"This program not only empowers military spouses with valuable, career-ready skills, but also supports the broader defense workforce by helping place qualified professionals into IT positions," said Andrea Griner, Vice President for Economic Development at CGTC. “We are proud of these military spouses for their commitment and excited to see where their careers lead.”

The initiative is specifically designed to support active-duty military spouses, though additional enrollment is occasionally available to other eligible participants. Following successful completion of the Security+ exam, students are qualified to apply for entry-level IT positions such as systems, network, or security administrators in both civilian and federal sectors.
