"Two Potters Sharing a Kiln"
Macon Arts Alliance is proud to present their August exhibit, ”Two Potters Sharing a Kiln”. The show features wood-fired ceramics by local artists, Roger Jamison and Patrick Rademaker. The show opens with a first Friday reception on August 1st, from 4-7pm.

Make a Mug
Learn various techniques with clay as you create your own ceramic mugs in this fun workshop. No experience necessary for this beginner-friendly class. Kristin Streilein will teach this workshop. $40 includes all materials to make 1-2 mugs ($30 for members). Open to ages 12 and up (ages 12-15 must be accompanied by a participating adult). July 31, 6:30-8:30 pm.

Creations will not be glazed (painted) during this class, but you can come back during our Clay Studio Night to glaze your creations in your choice of colors (registration for Clay Studio Night required). Clay Studio Night usually happens on the 2nd & 4th Friday of each month. Fee for workshop includes glazing during Clay Studio Night.

Paint & Sip
Learn to create a watercolor painting in a fun, relaxed setting. No painting experience required. Bring a beverage of your choice to sip on while you paint. Award-winning artist, Scott Serafy, will guide you through the steps to paint one of various subjects (florals, cityscapes, landscapes, still lifes). We’ve had great times over the last ten months of classes. One participant said, “We had a blast! Thank you for an amazing evening!” July’s subject will be a Greek Island scene, in the style of the picture shown here. $30 includes all materials for the class. The workshop begins at 7pm and goes for 2 hours. There are 12 spots available for the class.

First Friday Art Opening:
Form & Function
Join us on First Friday for the opening of “Form & Function,” an exhibit exploring 3D artwork by local artists, including pottery and ceramics, stained glass art, fused glass, functional woodwork, sculpture, mixed media work, metal work, tapestries and more. See the new exhibit, meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments sponsored by Sherri & Randy Goss. Admission is free. Exhibit on display through August 29. The gallery is open Monday-Friday, 11 am-4 pm.

While you’re visiting the gallery, pick up your map and clues for The Great Art Hunt! Discover art treasures in this scavenger hunt of murals and sculptures in downtown Macon. Corks & Canvas is a fun, beginner-friendly painting workshop where you can relax and hang out with friends while a local artist teaches you how to recreate a beautiful painting. No painting experience required. Bring a beverage of your choice to sip on while you paint. The cost is $30, and includes all materials for an 11 x 14 painting (or $35 for a 16 x 20 painting). The workshops start at 7 pm and lasts two and a half hours. On August 2, Amanda will teach a painting of the sun and moon.

Great Art Hunt
Discover art treasures in the Great Art Hunt! You’ll get a map and a list of clues to help you find all the stops in this scavenger hunt of murals and sculptures in downtown Macon. This is our 6th year hosting this event, and this time it will be bigger than ever with more art to find than ever before. Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3.

How it works:
The event will kick off at The 567 Center, at 456 First Street.
Stop by between 5-8 pm on August 1 to pick up your tote bag, map, and clues.
Take photos with your team to prove you found the art!
Hunt for the art one day or all weekend–most people can complete the hunt in 4 hours.
If you find all 30 locations, all of your team members will be entered into a drawing to win a Macon weekend prize package, including a stay at Hotel 45, a gift certificate to Downtown Grill, coffee from Taste & See, a gift certificate for art experiences at The 567 Center and more.
Along the way, you might also find small pieces of art to keep as mini-prizes (Saturday only).
Registration includes a Great Art Hunt tote bag to carry your map, clues, and any mini art you find.
Proceeds from this event support The 567 Center and its mission of bringing creative life to downtown Macon.
To be entered into the drawing for the grand prize, you must complete the hunt and e-mail your photos for proof by Monday, August 4 at 8 am.

In addition to incredible art, downtown Macon is full of unique shops, amazing restaurants, historic architecture and beautiful green spaces. Whether you live in Macon or are visiting for the first time, you’ll enjoy exploring its nooks and crannies. You can travel by car, foot, or bicycle–the choice is yours! Beginning Wheel
Learn the basic principles of making pottery on the wheel in this 8-week class, including cups, bowls, and more. No experience necessary! Johnnie Skelton will teach this class. Ages 16 and up. The cost is $250 for non-members, $200 for members, and includes all materials and firings. Meets Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm, starting August 6.
