Bowden Golf Course Pavilion to be Dedicated in Honor of Jim Hickman
Friday, July 25th, 2025
On Friday, July 25, 2025, Mayor Lester Miller, Commissioners, family and friends of Jim Hickman, and Recreation Department staff will hold a dedication ceremony at 10:00 a.m. in Mr. Hickman’s honor. The ceremony will be held at Historic Bowden Golf Course (3111 Millerfield Road) and will be live streamed on www.Facebook.com/MaconBibbCounty.
“Jim Hickman is more than deserving of this recognition," says Mayor Lester Miller. "It was more than his passion and love for golf, it was his love for his community and making it a better place."
In 2024, Commissioner Mallory Jones sponsored and ordinance that would dedicate a pavilion at Bowden Golf Course in honor of Hickman. In 2023, a portion of Millerfield Road was also dedicated in honor of Hickman.
Hickman managed the Golf Course for 15 years until his retirement from the City of Macon to develop another private golf club, but he stayed involved at Bowden and throughout the golfing community and our county.
