The birthplace of Macon and a symbol etched into the city and county seal is showing signs of deterioration over 200 years later.
Standing on a hilltop in east Macon for more than two centuries, the Fort Hawkins historic blockhouse now faces structural threats that preservationists hope to address before it’s too late.
