Homeowners in Monroe County Brace for Major Tax Hikes

Monroe County homeowners will face steep property tax increases after a recent reassessment sent some property values soaring by as much as 90%, with rural residents hit the hardest, county officials said.
Gary Pyron, a Monroe County resident, said his property tax bill jumped by more than $1,000 this year, though he was unsure of the exact percentage.
