Bike Walk Macon is encouraging everyone to walk, bike, take the bus, or carpool instead of driving solo. Going car-free helps reduce traffic, cut air pollution, save money, and gives you a whole new view of Macon. Here are all the ways you can take part:

Pledge to Go Car Free

Bike Walk Macon is challenging 200 Maconites to go car-free on May 30. Take the pledge at bikewalkmacon.com/carfreeday and show your support for safer, more accessible ways to get around without a car.

Enjoy Free Bus Rides with Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority (MTA)

MTA is celebrating Car Free Day by offering free rides all day - no fare or pass required. Riders can hop on any bus or paratransit service, or load their bike and ride to their destination at no cost. 

Join Bike Walk Macon for a Car Free Day Meetup

Celebrate with us throughout the day at these fun and casual gatherings:

• Breakfast meetup at Macon Bagels - 470 Third Street | 8:00 - 9:00 AM Stop by for coffee and breakfast with fellow car-free commuters. Pledgers get a free hot or iced coffee!

• Take the bus to lunch at Margaritas in Mercer Village Join Bike Walk Macon for a group bus ride to Margaritas for lunch. Meet at the Transfer Station (200 Cherry Street) at 11:40 AM. The group will return by 1:30 PM.

• Evening Social at Churchill’s on Cherry - 577 Cherry Street | 5:00 - 7:00 PM Cap off Car Free Day and the end of Bike Walk Month with drinks, conversation, and good company. Walk, bike, or take the bus to join us!
