Macon Habitat celebrates Women Build 2025 with Cox Communications

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, March 21st, 2025

Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (MAHFH) has hosted a Women Build program in Macon for over 20 years. The annual Women Build event, presented by Cox Communications, helps Habitat achieve a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to call home. Annually in March, MAHFH invites women across Middle Georgia to roll up their sleeves and join them on the construction site during their Women Build event. Teams of women come together to sponsor and build homes for Habitat families.

“We are so grateful for our Women Build presenting sponsor Cox Communications and all the teams that take time to join us on the jobsite each year during this special month,” said Ivey Hall, Executive Director of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. “Just in the month of March, almost 300 volunteers will help us encourage our homeowners as they work towards achieving their homeowners. Women Build is special way for us to surround these homeowners and fill these homes with love while they are under construction. It is also just a lot of fun to be on the job site with these incredible women all month long.”

We are excited to host Cox Communications this Friday, March 21, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM as they join us on the construction site of three homes on Dorothy Avenue in Lynmore Estates. Their commitment to affordable housing and community service is instrumental in making this event a success.

Media are invited to join us at 4120 Dorothy Avenue between 8:00 AM and noon on March 21.

This year, our Women Build teams, scheduled for build days through the end of March, will work in Lynmore Estates with a focus on completing our Dorothy Avenue houses as well as help with the construction of a home on Worsham Ave. Cox will be our 15th team this month. Additionally, we were excited to host Exchange Bank as our first team in Milledgeville for our home on Leo Court. The scope of work for this month-long event will include painting, landscaping, cabinet installation, porch construction, and more. Homeowners have already been identified for these homes and, with the help of our Women Build volunteers, four homes will be ready to close this spring.
