SOS Raffensperger Shares Financial Literacy Skills with Georgia Cyber Academy
Monday, March 3rd, 2025
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger‘s Securities Division will host a financial literacy program called MoneyTalks on February 26th at Georgia Cyber Academy. The students will be attending in person and via livestream for their virtual learning students. This program wholeheartedly backs Secretary Raffensperger’s mission to equip Georgia’s next generation with essential financial management skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.
“Financial literacy is not something we see alongside History, English, and Science,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “We’re changing that for students across the state.”
The program will be moderated by Atlanta radio personality Art Terrell. The panelists, Sileta Bell, President of The Bell Consultants; Leanne Francis Crayport, Senior Consultant; Ebony Francis, CEO, B.A., MBA, Accountant at AvestiCorp;, and Cait Howerton, CFP®, Certified Financial Planner Professional at Earned Wealth will lead insightful and engaging conversations on practical money skills. The scope of this program includes budgeting, saving, investing, maximizing income, credit and loans, retirement planning, entrepreneurship and starting a small business.
“In 2024 we reached over 2,000 Georgia students, and we’re looking to shatter that record this year,” said Noula Zaharis, Assistant Commissioner of Securities. “Georgia’s students need these skills for their future success.”
The Secretary of State Securities Division is a leader in improving financial literacy through outreach and education. The attendees will receive free resources at the event which will include the Official Money Guide for Teenagers and Starting Your Financial Future.
The Securities Division would like to extend a special thank you to the Georgia Cyber Academy GA SOS Student Ambassadors, as well as Yolanda Michelle Gilyard, Family School Partnership Coordinator at Georgia Cyber Academy, for giving us the opportunity to empower the students to be financially savvy.
