Yohar Martínez Named 2025 Adult Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year

Yohar Martínez has been named the 2025 Adult Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year (OTOY), an honor recognizing her exceptional contributions to the field of adult education and her transformative impact on students in her community. 

Martínez, a proud native of Venezuela, is a passionate educator whose has leveraged experience learning English as a second language to her own classroom within the Adult Education Division. Her career focus to empower adult learners, especially non-English speakers and immigrants, to achieve their educational and personal goals.  

Through her innovative teaching methods and unwavering commitment to student success, she has created an inclusive and supportive learning environment that inspires both her students and colleagues alike. 

"Teaching adult learners is not just about providing an education," she said. "It’s about opening doors to new opportunities and helping individuals unlock their potential. I believe in creating a classroom where every student feels valued and capable of achieving their dreams, regardless of their background."
