The Houston County School District will host its annual Teacher Recruitment Fair on Saturday, February 22 from 9:00 a.m. until Noon at Veterans High School. Teachers interested in employment are invited to participate in mini-interviews and learn more about each of the schools in the Houston County School District. Twenty-five elementary schools, eight middle schools, and five high schools will be on site, as well as Houston County WIN Academy and the Houston College & Career Academy.

The District offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package. The current salary range for teachers within our District is $50,957-$106,994, depending on the level of education and years of experience. Houston County’s current salary for a first-year teacher with a bachelor’s degree is $50,957.

Benefits include medical, dental, disability, paid sick leave and retirement. Two types of Flexible Spending Accounts - healthcare and dependent care – are also offered, which allow employees to pay for out-of-pocket costs with pre-tax dollars. While the recruitment fair typically attracts teachers who are already certified, those who already hold at least a bachelor’s degree and are seeking alternative routes to teacher certification are welcome to attend. There will be information on-site regarding the Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP) Program and a Master of Arts in Teaching Program.

Teacher candidates are encouraged to arrive before the fair starts to allow time to check in and attend a brief information session in the auditorium.
