Catholic private school, Mount de Sales Academy, located in Macon, Georgia, is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024-2025 STAR student and teacher awards. 

Mount de Sales Academy’s STAR student is senior Evan Lin this year. Evan nominated Mr. Mark McMahon (’77) as this year’s STAR teacher. Mount de Sales Academy would like to congratulate Evan and Mr. McMahon for their dedication in and out of the classroom as exemplary role models for our current and future Cavaliers. Evan Lin has been accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Mr. McMahon teaches Advanced Placement Physics and is an alumnus of Mount de Sales Academy. 

When asked what Mr. McMahon hopes his students will learn, he shared, "I want them to know that learning is fun. I have found that students put in the effort when you make it fun and enjoyable. I also want my students to appreciate diversity and respect our differences."
