Macon’s Job Market Climbs to 103,800 as Unemployment Drops to 3.9%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Macon recorded an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent in December, down two-tenths of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 3.3 percent.

The labor force in Macon decreased by 266 over-the-month but increased by 1,992 over-the-year, totaling 100,357.

Macon finished the month with 96,404 employed residents, down 82 over-the-month and up 1,263 compared to the same time last year.

Macon ended December with 103,800 jobs, up 400 over-the-month and up 1,900 over-the-year.

Initial unemployment claims in Macon increased by 79 over-the-month but were down 17 compared to last year, totaling 444.
