Monday, January 6th, 2025

Macon Area Habitat for Humanity joins Habitat organizations around the world in honoring the life of past President and Habitat Humanitarian Jimmy Carter.  "President and Mrs. Carter left an incredible legacy of service through their work with Habitat for Humanity. They put their words into action and worked alongside homeowners and volunteers to build over 4,000 Habitat Homes, changing the lives of families for generations," said Ivey Hall, Executive Director of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity.

To pay tribute to the late President Jimmy Carter and acknowledge how his efforts opened doors to brighter futures for thousands of Habitat homeowners over nearly four decades, Macon Area Habitat has set up a door where the community can leave messages in his honor. Macon Area Habitat’s memorial door will be at our office at 690 Holt Ave Macon, GA 31204 from 12/31/2024 to 1/10/2025 (our offices will be closed 1/1/25). The media and the general public are invited to pay tribute by signing the memorial with their names and personal messages.

“President Carter’s contributions to Habitat for Humanity are among the most vital to our organization,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “He opened doors of opportunity for families worldwide, and all of us at Habitat have been honored and humbled to work alongside him. We were truly blessed to have his support, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Carter family.”

In addition to visiting the memorial, the public is invited to visit habitat.org to sign the official online memory book and to see and share Habitat’s global tribute to President Carter.
