Tuesday, December 10th, 2024
The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) hosted leadership and project managers from the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), Georgia Power, Georgia Electric Membership Corporation, Electric Cities of Georgia and Georgia Economic Developers Association for a Holiday Appreciation Luncheon in the Georgia Experience Center today.
The annual event is an opportunity for the state’s leaders in economic development to gather in celebration of the year’s successes and goals in a casual setting. MBCIA Executive Director Stephen Adams gave a brief presentation during the luncheon, highlighting successes within Macon-Bibb County and Macon’s contribution toward Georgia’s economic advancement in 2024.
“It’s always an honor to gather with the project managers and GDEcD leadership,” said Adams. “This group of talented individuals are what drives Georgia to maintain its spot as the No. 1 state to do business for over 11 years in a row now. The MBCIA is grateful for a chance to host these hard-working leaders and project managers and celebrate the collaborative achievements, investment, and growth in Georgia.”
“Thank you to MBCIA for hosting this luncheon in celebration of another year of success,” said Barton Lowrey, GDEcD Director of Statewide Projects. “I’m honored to be included in an event that highlights the hard work done to bring new business to Georgia. It’s because of successful collaborations with individuals in this room that we can attract new investments and support the continued prosperity of existing industries, including Irving Tissue’s recent expansion in Macon-Bibb County, creating opportunities for great, well-paying jobs in our communities."
In Macon-Bibb County alone, numerous industries announced expansions and further investment into the community, bolstering economic and industry advancement in 2024. This milestone was one of several celebrated throughout the state, reaffirming Georgia’s spot as the No. 1 state to do business.
