Lindsey Student Support Center November 2024 Events

The Lindsey Student Support Center (LSSC) will host the following events for students and their families. All will be held at the LSSC unless otherwise noted.
Understanding the IEP:November 4th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. OR 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
If you missed the first session, we are having another session in Perry! Our parent mentor will lead families through the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process for families who have a student with disabilities and explain why they are so important. Receive a free binder to organize all of your documents (supplies provided). Please note this event will be held at the District’s Annex Auditorium, Building D, 1600 Macon Road in Perry. Food Processing, Perry High Ag Program: November 7thand 14th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Join us for an informative, hands-on demonstration of how to process food! On November 7th, participants will learn about basic food canning. November 14th is a jams and jellies workshop! Food will be provided by local farmers to process, but please bring your own glass jars. Please register at Food Processing Registration.
Clinic Day: November 19th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Lindsey Student Support Center (LSSC) and the Georgia Department of Public Health - North Central Health District are partnering to bring health appointments to the families in Houston
County. Appointments are available on a first come, first served basis and pre-registration is required. The appointments will be free or low cost for families. Nurses are able to treat mild/moderate conditions, high blood pressure, diabetes, and more. Health screenings, physicals and vaccines can also be provided. Prescriptions will be given as needed. Middle Georgia Community Action Agency will be on site to assist with prescription resources. Medications will not be on-site and dental services will not be available. Community Garden: November 21st from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Come join us for horticulture therapy and help tend to the community garden while receiving tips and tricks to help your own garden thrive. This is an adult class, please register at Community Garden Registration.
Middle GA - Georgia Learning Resources System Transition Resource Fair: November 21s from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
This event is designed to provide students with disabilities and their families with resources for transitioning from school into the community. Learn about New Option Waiver (NOW) / Comprehensive Supports Waiver Program (COMP) supports, post-secondary Resources and community agencies.
