AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Montgomery and Toombs Counties, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. AT&T added new cell sites and new network infrastructure to enhance the area’s coverage and capacity.

In Montgomery County, a new site in Tarrytown boosts coverage along Highway 15 in between Tarrytown Road. Another site in Mount Vernon provides improved coverage along Highway 221.

In Toombs County, a new site in Vidalia boosts coverage along Highway 1. Another site in Lyons improves coverage along Highway 1.

“In today’s world, connectivity is increasingly important in how we learn, work and keep our communities safe,” said Michele Johnson, President, Greater Vidalia Chamber of Commerce. “AT&T’s continued investment in wireless infrastructure will provide increased connectivity for our residents and businesses and give our first responders the enhanced communications they need to address incidents effectively and efficiently.”

AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and secure connectivity to more than 300 million people in over 24,900 cities and towns nationwide, which includes Montgomery and Toombs Counties. This helps Georgia residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.

These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet - the only nationwide communications network created with and for public safety. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked exclusively for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.

“At AT&T, we know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. We are proud to invest in Montgomery and Toombs Counties with wireless infrastructure necessary to connect in today’s digital world,” said Gary Sanchez, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “With enhanced wireless coverage, our customers will be able to experience better network connectivity that will help with virtual learning, responding to emergencies and connecting with one another.”

From 2019 to 2023, AT&T invested nearly $14.9 billion in our wireless and wireline networks in Georgia. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.
