Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, August 29th, 2024

Walmart is announcing a wide-ranging donation to support Central Georgia students, including 40 backpacks stuffed with supplies, 1,500 reams of paper and 3,000 three-prong folders. The donations came from a collaboration between seven Walmart stores located in and around Bibb County, including Macon, Perry and Warner Robins.

“Walmart is proud to be able to give back to our local communities and provide hundreds of students with supplies they need to start the school year off right,” said Samantha Morgan, market coordinator for Walmart. “Our associates were thrilled to come together for the common cause of helping prepare the next generation of Georgians to learn and thrive.”

The backpacks came directly off the shelves of local Walmart stores, allowing the associates to pick different styles and designs to cater to a variety of students with diverse interests. Some of the supplies and back-to-school essentials filling the backpacks include crayons, pencils, erasers, notebook paper, scissors, folders, rulers and more.

Across the state of Georgia, Walmart stores partnered with local school systems on “Stuff the Bus” drives, encouraging members of the community to help deliver necessary resources for students in need. Additionally, associates filled over 1,000 backpacks with school supplies and donated them to schools and non-profit organizations for the 2024-2025 school year.
