Sign A Stud Today for Macon Habitat's Faith Build

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, August 2nd, 2024

The faith community in Macon is joining Habitat for Humanity to build a new home in Lynmore Estates. The construction of this new home on Dorothy Avenue began soon after the Ground Blessing where building partners Macon Bacon, B&D Industrial, Vineville United Methodist Church and Macon-Bibb County HOME Investment Partnership broke ground on new homes for 3 families in late May 2024. Thursday, August 1st from 10 am until noon, community members are welcome to drop-in to leave a message of hope on the studs of the homes and to find out more about this year’s Faith Build. The event will be held at 4100 Dorothy Avenue Macon, Georgia.

The faith community and Macon Area Habitat for Humanity invite you to drop-in on Thursday, August 1 from 10am until noon. Community members are welcome to sign a stud, leaving messages of love and hope for the homeowner and her new home.

This is the fourth home to be built on Dorothy Avenue in the last year. Macon Area Habitat for Humanity’s Faith Build is just beginning, and there are still opportunities for the faith community to participate through volunteer work, financial contributions, and prayer. Construction is expected to be completed in the new year.

“We are so grateful for the many ways our community is coming together to help provide more affordable homeownership opportunities to Habitat families,” said Ivey Hall, Macon Area Habitat for Humanity Executive Director. “From property that was cleared in the Blight Fight to funding approved by our commissioners to volunteers from local businesses and the tremendous support of the faith community, we are seeing what is possible when we all work together to increase affordable housing options. These three homes are truly a blessing, and we could not be more excited to begin construction. We are excited to cover the inside of the home with messages of love and hope for the future of our Habitat family.”
