How Walnut Street Infrastructure Project will Help Cherry Blossom Festival

A new project will help improve the visitor experience at the Cherry Blossom Festival. Earlier this week, Macon-Bibb County Commissioners approved a $140,000 contract bid to improve Walnut Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Carolyn Crayton Park.

The project will bring a new parking lot where the old batting cages were located across from the park entrance. Plans include a new drainage system, bike trails, sidewalks and traffic patterns. The bike path will connect Walnut Street to the Pleasant Hill Pathway.
