MTA- Route Name Change Day & Mourning Melody's Bo Ponder
Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024
Life in our city is constantly changing and MTA is responding, renaming our bus routes to make them more readily identifiable. For example, Macon’s Westgate Mall, once the largest and first air-conditioned mall in Georgia is gone — and so too is that route name. Only Route #9, HOUSTON AVENUE remains exactly the same, and three (3) routes retain some part of the original name. See the changes below. The timetable remains the same for all routes. NEW ROUTE NAMES are listed in RED:
CURRENT REVISED ROUTE NAME
ROUTE 1 Vineville VINEVILLE / ZEBULON ROAD
ROUTE 2 Bellevue Kroger NORTH NAPIER / ZEBULON ROAD
ROUTE 3 West Macon / Macon Mall WEST BIBB / VA CLINIC
* ROUTE 4, BLOCK 1 North Highland SHURLING / GRAY HIGHWAY / WALMART
* ROUTE 4, BLOCK 2 North Highland SHURLING / GRAY HIGHWAY / WALMART
ROUTE 5 Ocmulgee RIVERSIDE / TOM HILL SR.
ROUTE 6 Westgate/Bloomfield PIO NONO / ROCKY CREEK
* ROUTE 7, BLOCK 1 Eisenhower/Chambers Road EISENHOWER / WALMART
* ROUTE 7, BLOCK 2 Eisenhower/Chambers Road EISENHOWER / WALMART
ROUTE 8 East Macon EAST BIBB / JEFFERSONVILLE ROAD
ROUTE 9 Houston Avenue HOUSTON AVENUE
ROUTE 10 Ocmulgee Express NORTH BIBB / RIVER CROSSING
ROUTE 11 Bellevue Express LOG CABIN / NORTH NAPIER
* Regarding ROUTES 4 & 7, BLOCK 1 & BLOCK 2: Although both blocks go to exactly the same places, the time schedules are different because these are 90-minute routes. MTA made this modification to provide riders with more frequent and varied travel options.
