Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is proud to announce that Dr. Karim Feroz, Assistant Professor of Information Technology, has had his work published in the esteemed Australasian Journal of Information Systems. The article, titled “'Use' as a Conscious Thought: Towards a Theory of 'Use' in Autonomous Things," was co-authored with Gohar Khan of the College of Technological Innovation, Zayed University.

The research delves into the evolving landscape of information systems (IS) and explores how users perceive and interact with IS artefacts. Traditional studies have focused on behavioral beliefs, deliberate cognitive efforts, and physical actions performed by human actors to produce desired outcomes. The next generation of information systems can sense, respond, and adapt to environments without necessitating similar cognitive efforts, physical contact, or explicit instructions.

Dr. Feroz and Dr. Khan's groundbreaking research leverages theories of consciousness and technology use to advance an alternative understanding of the "use" associated with these next generation IS artefacts that do not require deliberate cognitive efforts, physical manipulation, or explicit instructions to yield outcomes.
