Mercer’s McDonald Center for Advancement of Global Education to Host Delegates from the Dominican Republic
Friday, May 3rd, 2024
Mercer University’s McDonald Center for the Advancement of Global Education will host delegates from the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Education and school leaders from Punta Cana from April 29-May 3, on the Macon, Atlanta and Henry County campuses. The delegates will visit the Macon and Henry County campuses Thursday, May 2.
For nearly a decade, Mercer University’s McDonald Center for the Advancement of Global Education has been working with school teachers and leaders in the Dominican Republic to improve education in the country. The ongoing efforts include in-country support and training, virtual assistance from abroad and hosting Dominican educators on the Mercer campus.
This campus visit is an intensive week of professional development focused on instructional leadership and the effective implementation of the Mercer Modules, which are research-based instructional strategies developed by Tift College of Education faculty.
“The week has just been so impactful,” said Dr. N. Jean Walker, program director for tier I and II leadership certification programs and assistant professor of clinical practice and educational leadership for the Tift College of Education. “The team is having an opportunity to not only learn theory and best practices for instructional leadership but also to visit the schools and see them being used.”
