Kay Harris Appointed to New Role at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia (BBBS), the local affiliate of the preeminent one-to-one youth mentoring organization in the United States, announced Gordon resident Kay Harris as its new Mentoring Relationship Specialist, focused on serving the youth and communities of Baldwin and Wilkinson Counties and the Oconee region. 

A Mercer University graduate, Ms. Harris has served the community in a variety of roles including working for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Wilkinson County Service Center, Wilkinson County Health Department, and the City of Irwinton. In her new role at Big Brothers Big Sisters, she will play a role in mentor and youth recruitment and provide vital match support to Bigs, Littles, and their families. She will also coordinate a variety of match and family engagement activities ranging including financial literacy, health and wellness activities, and workforce development programs.

BBBS currently offers programs in Baldwin County through their partnership with Baldwin County Schools in addition to their regular community-based program. Kay Harris will spearhead the introduction of new initiatives and programs in Wilkinson County, including evidence-based youth mentoring programs focused on curbing violence, enhancing mental well-being, and fostering academic achievement and school attendance.
