Macon Volunteer Clinic Expands Eligibility to Wilkinson

Macon Volunteer Clinic (MVC) is pleased to
announce it is now offering its services to eligible residents of Wilkinson County. This is
in addition to eligible residents of Macon-Bibb County, who MVC has served for 21
years, and the addition of Twiggs in 2022.
Wilkinson County, with a population of some 8,700, has an almost 19.7%
uninsured rate (US Census) among its working adults ages 19-64. According to the
University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, Wilkinson County’s health rankings
are 145 th out of Georgia’s 159 counties.

Clinic to bring additional affordable healthcare services to Wilkinson County. We are

MVC’s services are at no cost to Macon-Bibb, Twiggs, and Wilkinson County
residents who qualify. Eligibility criteria are: (1) ages 18-64; (2) earn no more than
200% of the Federal Poverty Level; (3) be a resident of either county; (4) have no
medical insurance, and (5) *be actively employed in some capacity. *The work
requirement is waived for individuals who meet all other criteria, have qualified for
Social Security disability benefits, and are in the 24-month wait period for Medicare.
Patients are screened for eligibility before seeing a physician. Eligibility screening
appointments are available weekly, and can be made by calling (478) 755-1110 x. 121.
A medical home to eligible patients, Macon Volunteer Clinic offers free primary
health, dental, and eye care, non-narcotic prescription medication assistance, cancer
screenings, gynecology, dermatology, orthopedics, neurology, laboratory analyses, x-
rays, and other diagnostic services, and mental health counseling.
Located on the corner of Ingleside and Rogers, Macon Volunteer Clinic was
established in 2003 and is powered by philanthropy and volunteer providers. Its purpose
is to foster a community where all working adults, regardless of insurance or ability to
pay, can lead healthy and productive lives.
