Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, February 27th, 2024

Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (MAHFH) is celebrating the 29th anniversary of Women Build in March. The annual Women Build event, presented by Cox Communications, helps Habitat achieve a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to call home. MAHFH invites women from across Middle Georgia to roll up their sleeves and join them on the construction site during the annual month-long event. Teams of women come together to sponsor and build homes for Habitat families.

“We are so grateful for our presenting sponsor Cox Communications, our hard hat sponsor Dellacona Law Firm, and all of the teams that take time to join us on the jobsite each year,” said Ivey Hall, Executive Director of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. “This year is extra special as we celebrate 20 years of the Women Build program in Macon and welcome 200 volunteers to the jobsite throughout the month of March to help us build homeownership opportunities for families.”

The Women Build kick-off event, hosted by Sheridan Construction, will be held at Fall Line Brewing Co. on Tuesday, February 27th; 5:00pm-7:00pm. It will feature good food, great company, and live entertainment by Kayla Pippin. All are welcome! Women Build teams will receive drink vouchers, and will be entered into our giveaways. Come celebrate our 20th Anniversary Women Build!

This year, our Women Build teams, scheduled for build days March 1-29, will work in Lynmore Estates with a focus on completing two homes and helping with the construction of four others in the neighborhood. The scope of work for this month-long event will include painting, landscaping, cabinet installation, porch construction, and more. Homeowners have already been identified for these homes and, with the help of our Women Build volunteers, 4 homes may be ready for closings this spring.
