Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, February 16th, 2024

Democratic Candidate for Georgia House of Representatives, District 145, 28-year veteran classroom teacher and mother, Tangie Herring announced the launch of Teachers for Tangie, a grassroots group designed to give teachers and parents a voice in the campaign and a voice in the State House once she is elected

“As I’ve spoken with educators and parents across the district, they are excited about the opportunity to have an experienced classroom teacher and parent represent them in the State House,” said Herring. “My experience taught me that  if we want to improve our schools, politicians need to spend less time talking about what parents and teachers should do and more time listening to us,” said Herring.

Teachers for Tangie is a grassroots organization that will host both in-person and virtual listening sessions across the district between now and Election Day on May 21. The goal is to learn from each other and to hear from the experts - parents and teachers - about what the state legislature can do to improve our schools.

“From public safety to workforce development, the quality of our public schools touches every aspect of our community,” Herring stated. “ I look forward to listening, learning and working together to develop solutions to address critical issues, including student achievement, classroom discipline, school safety and chronic absenteeism.”

The Democratic Primary for House District 145 will be held on May 21, 2024.
