The Houston County Board of Education has named Dr. Catherine Gardner as the next Director of Human Resources for the Houston County School District. Dr. Gardner currently serves as the Principal of Bonaire Elementary School. She will transition to this new role in June after the retirement of Mrs. Tonya Maddox. 

“It is an honor to be named Director of Human Resources for the Houston County School District and work with this dedicated team of professionals,” said Gardner. “I look forward to continuing the great work that this department does and contributing to the success and well-being of the entire school district.” 

Gardner began her career in the Houston County School District as a language arts teacher at Perry Middle School and Mossy Creek Middle School. In 2013, she was selected as the Assistant Principal of Instruction at Northside Middle School. In 2017, she was named the Principal of Bonaire Elementary School. 

Gardner attended the University of Georgia where she received a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education. She also holds a master’s degree in reading education from Georgia Southern, a specialist in educational leadership from Georgia College and State University, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Mercer University. 

Dr. Gardner is married to Casey, and they have two children.
