Medical Cannabis Company Launches Scholarship Program on Giving Tuesday

Wednesday, November 29th, 2023

Botanical Sciences, Georgia’s first physician-founded medical cannabis provider, announces their scholarship program for pharmacy students attending one of the four accredited pharmacy schools in Georgia as measured by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). These schools include the University of Georgia, Mercer University, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and South University. The launch of Botanical Sciences Scholarship Program is proceeded by the announcement last month as Georgia became the first state in the country and Botanical Sciences the first company to dispense medical cannabis through independent pharmacies.

“Our commitment to our independent pharmacy partners goes beyond just the sales of our products at their locations,” says Gary Long, CEO of Botanical Sciences. “We want to give back and make an investment in the education of future pharmacists in Georgia.  With the start of this scholarship program, we intend to inspire the next generation of independent pharmacists to continue our mission to provide equitable access to this crucial medicine from all corners of the state.”

The Botanical Sciences Pharmacy Scholarship recognizes deserving pharmacy students for their exemplary academic performance, leadership, community service, and a demonstrated commitment to independent pharmacy. All pharmacy students enrolled at an accredited college of pharmacy are eligible to apply. The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis during the academic term that the scholarship is awarded and within 24 months of graduation. Botanical Sciences Scholarship Program recipients will receive a $5,000 scholarship as well as a $300 travel stipend to get a VIP tour of the Botanical Sciences medical cannabis operation in Glennville, Georgia. Applicants can learn more about eligibility criteria and the application process by visiting botanicalsciences.com/scholarship.

Botanical Sciences now has opened dispensaries in Pooler, Marietta, Stockbridge, and Chamblee with the fifth location to open in Augusta in the first quarter 2024. In addition to its owned dispensaries, Botanical Sciences’ products will be available at nearly 140 independent, licensed pharmacies throughout the state. This network now provides 90% of all Georgians to be within 30 minutes of a Botanical Sciences dispensing location. Georgia is the first state in the country to authorize the dispensing of medical cannabis through pharmacies to registered patients, allowing Botanical Sciences to bring relief to more patients in need than ever before. Patients can view a full list of participating independent pharmacies and dispensary locations nearby by visiting botanicalsciences.com/locations and inputting their zip code.
