Macon Rotary Club Helps Read for the Record
Thursday, October 26th, 2023
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience that celebrates children’s early language and social-emotional development. The event-- a day of celebration and fun-- builds an intergenerational community through reading and raises awareness around the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive, high-quality books. Over our 18 years to date, more than 26 million people have participated in Read for the Record, and Jumpstart has distributed hundreds of thousands of high-quality books to children in underserved communities.
This year, Jumpstart’s 18th Annual Read for the Record campaign will be held on October 26, 2023. Millions of people will come together that day to read With Lots of Love written by Jenny Torres Sanchez and illustrated by André Ceolin. Thousands of schools, libraries, organizations, and communities will celebrate early literacy by reading this beautiful story about family, finding ways to stay connected, and sharing love across distances. The Rotary Club of Macon is proud to help the students of Burdell Hunt Elementary School Read for the Record on Thursday, October 26 at 9am. Club members will read to each classroom at the school and then provide a copy of With Lots of Love for each student.
