River Edge Behavioral Health and Silence the Shame have partnered together to host a Youth Mental Wellness Community Outreach & Practice Effort (COPE) Clinic Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at River Edge Behavioral Health, 175 Emery Highway, Macon, GA 31217 in the Ocmulgee Room. To register for the COPE Clinic and connect with community partners, visit bit.ly/maconcope.

This event is designed specifically for teenagers from age 13-19, parents, caregivers, and mentors in Macon and the surrounding area. Teens will be able to participate in peer-to-peer discussions focused on stress management and prioritizing wellness. They will also be able to interact with coping and soft skills stations including content creation, podcasting, journaling, positive self-talk, yoga and goal setting.

In addition, adults are invited to participate in a Parent Café session. These cafés provide a safe and supportive environment for parents, caregivers, and mentors to discuss important topics including the challenges and rewards of raising a family, navigating inequality and enhancing overall wellbeing. Through individual reflection and peer-to-peer learning, participants will explore their strengths and develop strategies to strengthen their communities based on their experiences and wisdom.

The event is free to attend. Lunch will be provided. Participants will also have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes.

“River Edge is grateful to host the Youth Mental Wellness COPE Clinic in partnership with Silence the Shame. I am hopeful this event will continue the dialogue among young people to help themselves, support others and make healthy life decisions,” said Cass Hatcher, CEO of River Edge Behavioral Health.

“As we are settling into the school year, students will have an opportunity to practice healthy ways to cope and empower their voice,” said Shanti Das, Founder & CEO, Silence the Shame. “Having allies like River Edge helps to amplify our purpose, educate the community and promote suicide prevention.”
