Mercer University to Celebrate Family Weekend

Mercer University’s Office of Campus Life has organized three days of events 

Sept. 29-Oct. 1 to celebrate Family Weekend 2023

Every year, Mercer University plans a weekend for families of students to visit the beautiful campus and experience a day in the life of their student(s). Family Weekend 2023 brings together students, parents, siblings and other relatives for a weekend filled with excitement and bonding as well as opportunities for families to meet Mercer’s administration and faculty while enjoying arts, athletic and social events.

Registration is recommended and can be completed online by Sept. 29 or on-site Sept. 29, 4-7:30 p.m., in the Godsey Science Center and Sept. 30, 8:00-11:30 a.m. in the Godsey Science Center. The $20 registration includes breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 30, tailgate activities, access to educational sessions and events, a restaurant discount card and the opportunity to purchase Family Weekend t-shirts for only $5 for the entire family.

The festivities will begin Friday evening with Campus Academic Treks starting in Langdale Hall at 4 p.m. The treks feature members of Mercer’s Peer Advisor Team leading families on 

30-minute walking tours of the academic centerpieces of Mercer’s campus. Stops include the newly-renovated Academic Resource Center and Academic and Advising Services and the best “secret” study rooms/spaces.

Cubstock 

6:00-8:00 p.m.

Mercer Village 

The talent of Mercer students in Mercer Village is the evening entertainment, and free refreshments will be available for families.

Saturday, Oct. 30

Breakfast and Welcome Program 

9:00-10:00 a.m.

Godsey Science Center Quad and Patio

Features Mercer administration, student government leaders, resources from Visit Macon and more.

Beach Volleyball Scrimmage 

9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Bear Beach 

Cheer on the Mercer beach volleyball team in an Orange vs. Black scrimmage

Family Weekend Concert 

11:00-11:50 a.m. 

McCorkle Music Building

This program in the Fickling Recital Hall will feature many of the talented students of the Townsend School of Music. The concert, hosted by the Mercer Singers, will include a kaleidoscope of solo, duet and quartet performances by vocal & instrumental musicians.

Football Tailgate and BBQ Lunch

12:30-3:00 p.m. 

Black Field

Tailgate on the Black Field before the game. Enjoy Free Kona shaved ice, live music from Chase Matthews, inflatables, Mercer giveaways, and tailgate games for the family. Free photobooth for families will be available and Mercer cheerleaders and Toby the Bear will be at the tailgate after the Bear Walk which is at 1:30pm
