Dot Brown to showcase the making of Artist Books at Wini McQueen’s Bicentennial Art Exhibit ‘The Canopy Project’
Local artist and retired educator, Dot Brown, will be the featured speaker at Wini McQueen’s ‘The Canopy Project’ Studio in the Macon Mall on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00pm. Brown will showcase the making of Artist Books and exhibit her personal collection of handcrafted books. She will explore topics such as why make artists books and how does function follow form. Visitors to the event will participate in a brief but magical hands-on experience in the crafting of a book. Influenced by Wini McQueen’s 2020 Exhibit ‘The Covering’ at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, Ms. Brown created 8 books from quilted materials crafted by McQueen.

“I am honored to have Dot explain her book making process in The Canopy Project Gallery”, said Wini McQueen, artist and creator of the Bicentennial Art Show featured piece, The Canopy Project. “She is a long-time friend and treasure to me and the Macon community”.

To access The Canopy Project Gallery, enter the Macon Mall (3661 Eisenhower Pkwy, Macon, GA 31206) on the Upper Level at the entrance that faces Mercer University Drive (nearest the former JC Penny end and closest to the new amphitheater construction). There is plenty of parking available and the event is free.
