Sacred Heart Catholic School Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony  Celebrates a Dream Come True

Thursday, August 24th, 2023

Sacred Heart Catholic School (SHCS) hosted an official ribbon-cutting at the remodeled building now housing their middle school. The ceremony celebrating the middle school expansion project denotes a significant milestone in the school’s history as it contributes to SHCS’s commitment to provide an exceptional educational experience to its growing student body for many years to come.

Starting this year, the middle school students at SHCS transitioned full-time to the newly renovated Parish Activity Center (PAC) building. Due to improvements that began last year, the building already housed the middle school STEM lab, broadcast and art studios and the gymnasium. Students previously transitioned between buildings, but now all classes are conducted in the newly minted middle school.

“This has long been a dream to separate our elementary and secondary students,” shared Al Chromy, Principal of SHCS.

Significant upgrades to the classrooms and extracurricular spaces leveraged the existing layout of the campus, creating the best environment to promote the growth and independence of the young men and women of SHCS.

“Nearly $1 million has been invested in the new middle school building that ensures all students have a supportive learning environment,” said Chromy.

Separating the elementary and middle schools lessens distractions for students and enhances the developmental distinctions necessary for different ages, while giving middle school students additional flexibility as they learn to be young adults.

The school also introduces other exciting improvements for the students and families of SHCS, including separate car lines for both elementary and middle schools, an age specific behavior incentive, and maintaining secure and controlled access of all buildings.

“Our school was blessed with a $6 million EANS grant that funded many of the facility and infrastructure improvements needed to make this dream a reality,” said Chromy.

The new middle school signifies a new chapter for personal and academic growth for the school’s community while continuing to uphold the strong Catholic teachings of Sacred Heart.
