Macon Film Festival Announces Postponement of Fulldome Film Screenings Due to Necessary Technical Repairs

Thursday, August 10th, 2023

It is with great disappointment that the leadership team of the Macon Film Festival who partners with the Museum of Arts and Sciences (MAS) to host the Fulldome Film category in the MAS Planetarium each year, announces that the competition category will be paused until October due to necessary technical repairs. However, there will be a free outdoor screening of a cult classic film, “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” on Aug. 18 at the Museum of Arts and Sciences Outdoor Amphitheater.

“While we will go ahead and judge the films in this category, we have to postpone due to technical issues. We look forward to having everything back up and running in October,” said Justin Andrews, President of the Macon Film Festival. “It will be a great experience to screen these films in the incredible MAS theater. Unfortunately, sometimes technology surprises you at the worst time. We have been trying to address the repairs quickly, but the postponement of this competition category is unavoidable.”

“Although we will be missing this category of films during the festival weekend, the rest of the 2023 festival will prove to be an exemplary year of great films, incredible talent and tier one celebrities,” said Andrews. “We are excited to offer a replacement activity of a cult classic film that night in the amphitheater.”

The cult classic “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” will be screened, honoring the late Paul Reubens. This cult classic, comedic film surrounds man-child Pee-wee Herman who lives a magical life but has one possession that he treasures over all the others – his bicycle. This screening will be free to the public.
