Macon Welcomes Several Conferences Throughout June
Thursday, June 1st, 2023
Macon will serve as the host city for several conferences throughout the month of June. With support from Visit Macon, five conferences are being held in Macon, bringing in thousands of attendees.
“With summertime being some of Macon’s slower months, it is great to have the influx of travelers for conferences bring in significant economic growth to the city,” says Gary Wheat, President & CEO of Visit Macon. “Attendees stay at hotels, dine at restaurants, and shop at Macon’s small businesses while they are here.”
Beginning the weekend of June 2, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses will return to Macon to host their annual conference at the Macon Coliseum. The Convention has been held in Macon for over 40 years, bringing in thousands of attendees. This year’s conference theme is “Exercise Patience” and extends through four weekends; two English and two Spanish. For more information, visit their Public Information Desk within the Coliseum.
During June 4-9, the Southeast Tourism Society will be taking over Mercer University for their annual summer Marketing College. Tourism professionals from around the country will be staying in Macon for the Travel Marketing Professional (TMP) certification.
Other conventions being hosted later this month include Order of the Eastern Star starting on June 11, International Order of the Rainbow Girls on June 15, and Veterans of Foreign Wars on June 22 – all located in Macon’s Edgar H. Wilson Convention Center.
“Visit Macon’s Sales team works one-on-one with these organizations to help support in the planning of their important events. We are so honored to have them in Macon and to experience all that Macon has to offer” says Ann Starley, Visit Macon’s Director of Sales.
