GDOT District 3 was Awarded 5 Projects

In April 2023, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) District 3 was awarded five projects. 
The investment in the district will be in Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Muscogee, Peach, Sumter and Twigg Counties. It will focus on the safety of signing and pavement marking upgrades at various railroad crossings.  The cost will be approximately $280,000. The contract was awarded to Peek Pavement Marking, LLC.

Next, we have a safety project of all-way stop control signing upgrades at various locations in Bibb, Butts, Coweta, Crawford, Harris, Heard, Henry, Houston, Jones, Macon, Meriwether, Monroe, Peach, Spalding, Stewart, Troup, Twiggs and Upson Counties. The total investment is $546,513.00 

The third project will be in Troup County. This will be for bridge construction on Tucker Road over Polecat Creek. The total investment will be $1.8 million. The contract was awarded to CW Matthews Contracting Company, Inc. 

In Butts County, a new roundabout will be on the west side of State Route 16 and State Route 42. This was awarded to Helix Group and will cost $2.8 million.
 
Lastly, Troup County will be a resurfacing and maintenance project on SR 1 / US 27 from north of Fernwood Dr to Heard County line. The contract was awarded to CW Matthews Contracting Company, Inc and the total investment of $7.6 million.
 
Start dates have not been established for any of the contracts and scheduled completion dates are subject to change.
