Ahead of anticipated growth, expansion, and innovation for the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Child Development Center (CDC) on its Macon campus, the center is now enrolling for fall care beginning August 2 and inviting students, faculty, and the community-at-large to apply for childcare.
The Center has recently received grant funding to grow its capacity for childcare including fun, new playground equipment, and discussions surrounding the expansion of the Center to support the need for childcare in Macon have been a part of recent leadership pursuits.
"We want parents to know that we are here as a safe, affordable, and quality childcare option for their children," said Danielle Clough, assistant director for Child Development Centers at CGTC. "The consistent need for quality childcare in Macon is something our leadership works passionately to address for our students, and we also provide the same opportunity to any parent or caregiver as we have the space."
For several years, the CDCs at CGTC have used innovative ways to support student-parents with childcare through state and federal funding. PELL eligible CGTC students have access to Quick Launch -- a program that covers all cost for childcare at the CDC while other funding options are explored. Recent expansion of the GA CAPS childcare scholarship priority groups means more student-parents are able to access high-quality early learning for their family while in school.
The creation of affordable and convenient childcare options for Macon is what the College considers paramount for a significant percentage of its students and community.
CGTC has two on-campus Child Development Centers in Warner Robins and Macon.
The Macon Child Development Center is located at 3300 Macon Tech Drive inside the Colleges' B-Building. It is open to CGTC students, staff, and the public. The Center enrolls in programs for children ages 3 to 5 years old.
The Center is open Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. except for scheduled holidays and professional development days. The Center calendar closely aligns to CGTC’s College Calendar.
CDC’s at CGTC are licensed to operate by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning and is Quality Rated.
