The Fire Department is welcoming 17 new firefighters into its family. There will be a graduation ceremony to celebrate this accomplishment on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Building H -Auditorium (3300 Macon Tech Drive). The ceremony starts at 2:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the Fire Department’s Facebook page.

“We are so proud and excited for this class to officially become part of Team Macon-Bibb,” says Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “This class is extra special since it’s the first to train at our brand-new Fire Academy. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.”

The class began training January 9, immediately after the completion of the new Training Building on Tinker Drive. They have been in intensive training ever since.

The graduation ceremony will feature a presentation of colors, National Anthem, invocation, and multiple speakers. Each Firefighter will take the oath of office and be sworn in by Fire Chief Edwards.
