Houston Healthcare Celebrates Volunteer Week
Monday, April 24th, 2023
On Tuesday, April 19, 2023, Houston Healthcare hosted its annual Volunteer Luncheon at the Cary Martin Conference Center in the Sonny Watson Health Pavilion. The luncheon is held annually in recognition of National Volunteer Week, which is celebrated April 16-22 this year. Volunteers from Houston Healthcare’s Warner Robins and Perry campuses were recognized for the integral role they play in the day-to-day operations of Houston Healthcare.
The event began with a welcome and recognition of volunteers from Houston Healthcare Chief of Staff Melissa Phagan, followed by lunch and a special guest appearance by Chad Gibson as “Elvis” who performed several numbers and had the volunteers showing off their dance moves. Door prizes and a volunteer group photo followed. Several members of the Houston Healthcare Executive Team and Hospital Board were present to show their appreciation.
According to Patty Callahan, supervisor of Volunteer Services, Houston Healthcare volunteers manage the hospital gift shops, provide information to families and visitors, and assist people in navigating the facilities. The Chaplains who visit patients and their families are also volunteers. “Volunteers are a vital part of our hospitals,” says Callahan. “We are fortunate to have them as part of our team.”
Houston Healthcare is always looking for friendly faces to join our team of volunteers. For more information, visit hhc.org/about-us/volunteer.
