Macon Sees Drop in November Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Macon recorded an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent in November, down four-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.2 percent.

"We are seeing job numbers continue to rise across the state as Georgians secure employment,” said Commissioner Butler. “Unemployment rates also dropped in regions throughout Georgia in November as we entered the holiday employment period.”

The labor force increased in Macon by 494 and ended the month with 102,636. That number went down 1,354 when compared to November of 2021.

Macon finished the month with 99,412 employed residents. That number increased by 826 over the month and decreased by 1,223 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Macon ended November with 105,300 jobs, an all-time high. That number went up 1,600 from October to November and increased by 1,700 when compared to this time last year.

The number of unemployment claims went up by 0 percent in Macon in November. When compared to last November, claims were up by about 18 percent.
