Houston County Board of Education Names Several Positions at the January Board Meeting

The Houston County Board of Education named several positions during the January Board meeting held on January 17, 2023.

Dr. Doug Rizer was named the Director of School Operations. Dr. Rizer currently serves as the Principal of Houston County High School. Prior to being appointed as Houston County High School's Principal, he served as Principal at Quail Run Elementary and Lake Joy Elementary. He has a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Master of Administrative Leadership from Georgia Southern University, a Specialist in Leadership from Georgia College and State University, and a Doctorate in Leadership from Argosy University. Dr. Rizer and his wife, Meridith, have two children, Madison and Hunter.

Will Ray was named the Director of Human Resources. He currently serves as the Principal of Kings Chapel Elementary School. Ray has worked as an educator in Houston County for 26 years. He taught at Northside High School and Houston County High School and served as an Assistant Principal at Houston County High prior to becoming Principal at Kings Chapel. He attended the University of Georgia where he received a bachelor’s degree in English Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. He also earned a Specialist degree from Columbus State University. He and his wife, Heather, have two children, Jeffrey and River.

Tom Seward was named the Director of Career, Technical, & Agricultural Education (CTAE). He currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Warner Robins High School. Seward has been an educator for 19 years. Prior to joining Warner Robins High, he served as an Assistant Principal at both Quail Run and Centerville Elementary and an engineering teacher at Houston County High School. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia. He also has secondary degrees in Instruction Technology and Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. He and his wife, Melissa, have two sons.

At the meeting, the Houston County Board of Education also approved Mrs. Kyon Cobb as Principal of Langston Road Elementary School and Dr. Dana Brock as Principal of Miller Elementary School. Ben Bailey was also named as the head football coach at Northside High School.
