First Mayor’s Sneaker Ball Happening Friday

Staff Report

Thursday, December 8th, 2022

Grab your sneakers and best dress or suit! Mayor Lester Miller is holding the first ever Macon-Bibb County Mayor’s Sneaker Ball on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Macon City Auditorium (415 1st Street) from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. This ball is the kick-off event for the Bicentennial Celebration as Macon celebrates its 200th birthday in 2023.

“We’re excited for an opportunity to bring our entire community together to celebrate all of our city’s wonderful accomplishments and how we’ve overcome any obstacles placed before us,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “Macon is what it is today because of so many different people from different backgrounds coming together to help this city thrive, and that is something worth celebrating.”

If you’re asking yourself, ‘What’s a Sneaker Ball?,’ it’s an opportunity for you to wear your best suit or gown, while rocking your favorite sneakers! The ball will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres and live music from the Central High School Strings Orchestra, Justin Cutway, and Collective Space. There is also going to be a silent auction and sneaker cam to document all the different styles of sneakers.

General admission tickets are on sale right now until the day of the event for $40 each and you can buy them here. Everyone is invited to show support for their city but must purchase a ticket to attend.
